Scripture: Romans 1:16-17 (ESV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith."
Devotion:
In these few verses from Romans 1:16-17, Paul declares his bold stance on the gospel. It is a message so transformative, that it compels him to share it without hesitation or shame. What would this world look like if we all felt like this! This passage strikes at the very heart of our own struggles with fear, doubt, and the desire for acceptance. This passage issues a challenge for us to think about how important the gospel really is in our lives!
Our society often pushes us to conform. It urges us to blend in. To not “rock the boat”. We are told that we should keep our faith to ourselves, and that we shouldn’t stand out because of what we believer. We're bombarded with messages that tell us our beliefs should be kept private, that faith is a personal matter not to be shared in public or professional spaces.
