Mention of Babel... The issue of tongues is connected to what happened there. Languages were jumbled and do the "tongues" we speak today are the result of sin's rebellion. Paul says tongues will cease (1 Cor.13). Stands to reason cos our languages being the outcome of the sin at Babel must cease cos heaven is a place of perfect holiness. Therefore, when tongues are studied though the whole counsel if God, it HAS to be existing human languages that will "cease" at the consummation of all things. What will we use ho communicate in heaven... That is up to the Lord.
